Theres a great interview with Cameron Miyasaki of Pixar on strutyourreel.com.
He goes over how he got into Pixar and his approach to animation, and gives a bit of good advice that helped me make a mental leap, which hopefully will find its way into my work.
Ronnie Del Carmen defines it well in his amazing artbook Fragments, from which the following is quoted:
"Structure and lyricism.
One is study. The other is feel.
One advances the other. And like riding a bicycle you can't not know how to anymore."
Cameron's advice, on a very similar note, is this:
"Make sure you animate emotion and attitude and not action."
Let the acting inform the mechanics.
chances are, if ive spent any amount of time around you, ive probably drawn a caricature of you, that you will never ever see...
so why not start posting them on the web! anyway, here's the first.
